General Definition of Work Non-Exempt
Under limited supervision performs a variety of administrative duties to support the Transportation Department. This position provides a wide variety of complex and confidential administrative and secretarial support; responsibilities for the position are focused in two main areas; Administrative tasks and Record keeping task.
Qualification Requirements
• High school diploma or GED required. Associates/Technical degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Reports to
Transportation Director
Essential Functions
• Support the Transportation Director and the department by managing communication and data entry for various processes. This includes arranging and coordinating appointments, reviewing email communication, composing responses to incoming correspondence, and relaying complex information.
• Prepare materials for department presentations and coordinate travel and staff development requirements.
• Organize and maintain an efficient filing system for the office.
• Answer phones, relay messages, and provide information to various stakeholders.
• Maintain the department's accident files, and coordinate with the North Carolina Department of Justice (NCDOJ) for information exchange related to accident investigations.
• Work with insurance companies to resolve claims related to bus accidents.
• Perform any other additional duties assigned by Transportation Director
Physical Requirements
• This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects.
• Work regularly requires sitting, speaking or hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel and repetitive motions.
• Work occasionally requires standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling with hands and arms, pushing or pulling and lifting.
• Work has standard vision requirements.
• Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken work; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels.
• Work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operating machines and observing general surroundings and activities.
• Work is generally indoors in an office environment (e.g. business office, light traffic).
